I had planned to do a tempo run with Jim Gelb tonight. Unfortunately he had some kind of medical problem and was unable to so now I had to motivate myself. I fueled up with some homemade tortilla soup - minus the tortillas, cheese and avocado and some pita bread and headed out. I always worry in these types of runs that I won't be able to run tempo pace. Did a 2 mile warmup and started my tempo run into the wind...now smart me had planned the run that I would only run about 1/2 mile directly into the wind and most of that involved 2 small up hills. The rest of the run had a tail wind although I will say the last mile was tough because of the cross wind. Overall my average for the 4 mile tempo part was 7:18 - a hair slow but the wind at the start and finish did slow me a bit. I felt strong, my foot felt acceptable and I was paying attention to my form. Looks good for Sunday. I continue to hope this wind dies down.
