Tonight we had a North Team party at Karen's house. We spent 5 min talking about the Team process starting in January. That brings on the decision. Do I just use Austin as a training run and plan the big race for Boston? I am leaning towards that as the turn around after a hard effort at Austin may prove to be kind of difficult if I want to try and run fast in Boston too. It was tough last year and I didn't run that hard at Austin. If that is the choice I make, I will be joining the team work outs in January and changing course just a little.
My choice will be made and final by Jan 1.
Super windy today. The cold wasn't too bad but the wind. Felt like I was running in place when the gusts came and I think the tail wind was worst because my legs just didn't want to run that fast. Silver dog came along and I don't think 6 miles was quite enough for her. She was still leaping around when we were done.
Major pre-spring cleaning today. Still got a little left to do but things are looking a lot better around my house.
Sunday.

3:20 at Austin, 3:15 at Boston. Why not?
Almost sounds like it was always a dream and never reality from the start. ; )
Stop being a WUSS.
You've committed to 3:20 and have been bragging about how strong you feel. Who is putting fear uncertainty an doubt in your head?
I'm with Bruce. 3:20 Austin. 3:12 Boston
Enough of the soft sh*t.
Just run strong.
I know I can run 3:20 at Austin but the question is can I turn around and do a 3:15 in Boston?? I'm thinking 3:29ish in Austin and then 3:20 or faster in Boston.
Mike - ask Bruce - I was a wreck between Austin and Boston last year and both were mediocre runs. I'm really thinking of saving it up until Boston. I'm not being a wuss - just smart. Now of course if y'all are going to join me in Austin and run a 3:08 and then go to Boston and do a 3:00 then may be I'll just have to do the 3:20/3:12 combo.
let me preface by "we're bantering, we're not gett mad at each other"
1- If you know you can do it, then go do it, don't postpone it. Why risk injury, life events, and other by prolonging things. You've been training for Austin, race in Austin. Extending training yet another 2 months makes for a looong training. See my Dallas attempt after chicago.
2- i don't need to prove myself in Austin. I trained all summer while other got scared of the heat, for a race in decemeber. The equivalent would have been for me to postpone to Houston 2 months later.
3- i call BS on not being able to race in Boston. Your coach should be able to manager your recovery and re-ramp.
4- you being a wreck between two races is self-imposed. i suffered from mental issues before too. just need to adjust your mental issues.
look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself if you're tough enough.
: )
you wrote: "I know I can run 3:20 at Austin but the question is can I turn around and do a 3:15 in Boston" a- don't count you 3:15 eggs before your 3:20 has hatched.
b- if you know you can, then why not be satisfied with the 3:20. Or, go for a 3:15 in Austin and show us all up!
i'm not going to reply anymore! this can go on forever and at the end of the day you just need to be happy with your decision, stick with them, and not doubt them.
