I'm going to a horse show this weekend so I needed to get the long run done today. Did a fairly harmless quality workout Thurs night then hopped up at 6AM to get ready. I was scheduled to do 20miles so I drove to the almost 1/2 way point and dropped off some water. I knew when I got up it was going to be a tough 20 miler. My left foot was not feeling so good. I taped it up good and snug and headed out the door. At mile 1 I seriously considered turning around but when I did, my foot felt OK so I turned back around and hobbled for another few miles until it loosened up. I decided to run to 5 miles and if I still felt bad I'd turn around and call it a day at 10miles. At the 5 mile mark I was feeling fine. My foot was sore but I had managed to even my gait out. At mile 8.9 (the entrance to the Expo Center) I stopped and refilled my water bottle. Things were looking pretty good so I decided to continue on and finish the full Decker Race Loop. I ended up running the full loop plus 4 miles so ended up with 16 miles. Not 20 but the last couple of miles had me reverting back to my hobbling gait so it's probably for the best. I was never so glad to be home.
I'll be working on my foot all week so it feels better by next weekend for whatever awaits us at the soul (sole in my case!) buster.
Now off to get horse show stuff together and head off for that. Ahhh...a weekend of sitting pretty with the horse doing the hard work...not me!!
